David Morse was born in Beverly, Massachusetts, on October 11, 1953. He grew up in a middle-class family where his father, Charles Morse, was a salesman, and his mother, Jacquelyn Morse, was a teacher. He grew up with six siblings in Essex, Massachusetts, and Hamilton, Massachusetts. At a young age, he was confirmed in the Episcopal Church. He used to pray daily for his faith.

Career

David Morse began his career in professional acting by performing in theaters. After graduating from high school in 1971, he worked with the Boston Repertory Company for six years and appeared in 30+ productions. At the end of the decade, he moved to New York, where he resumed his stage career and started working with Circle Repertory Company.
